Ram Navami

Date and time
Sri Ram with Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman

On the festival of Ram Navami, we commemorate the birth of Lord Rama. The Vedic scriptures testify that Lord Vishnu assumed his most beautiful and attractive form as Lord Ramachandra to perform his divine play of setting new foundations to the virtues of culture, heroism, integrity, morality, good governance, humility and renunciation.

Lord Rama, as a special divine incarnation, was born in the Solar Dynasty to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya in the tretayuga age. With the help of martial arts knowledge and supernatural weapons received from Maharishi Vishwamitra, he was a defender of the sacred Vedic ceremonies against evil, demonic forces already in his youth.

Despite his royal birth, Lord Rama's life was full of difficulties, unexpected changes, ethical questions and moral dilemmas. Although he was the firstborn, due to a royal promise, one of his brothers, Bharat, succeeded him on the throne, but he had to go into exile in poverty and difficult circumstances. Ravana the demon king kidnapped his wife Sita. He and his brother, Lakshman, had to undertake an almost impossible task of freeing her, in which he received help only from Hanuman and the army of vanaras, the forest monkey men. We can read about the incarnation of Lord Rama in the Ramayana epic.

We celebrate the festival of Ram Navami with pooja and gathering in the Mandir.
