Hanuman Jayanti

Date and time
Hanuman Ji

Hanuman Jayanti is the birthday of Hanuman Ji, one of the great heros of Ramayan. Hanuman Ji is a devotee of Bhagwan Ram, the minister of the vanaras' king, the protector of bhaktas. We can read about His miraculous deeds in the Ramayan.

Jai Shri Ram!

Hanuman Jayanti is the day we celebrate Hanuman Ji's Janmotsav, his sacred birthday! It's a really special time to remember and honor Bajrangbali, the epitome of bhakti (devotion), shakti (strength), and buddhi (wisdom).

In 2025, this auspicious day falls on Saturday, April 12th. It's on the Purnima Tithi, the full moon day, which begins early in the morning, at 03:21 AM on April 12th, and lasts until 05:51 AM on April 13th. So, the main celebrations will be on the 12th.

We know how Hanumanji is the ultimate sevak (servant) of Lord Rama. This day reminds us of his incredible devotion, how he selflessly dedicated his entire being to Shri Ram. He's our inspiration for loyalty and unwavering faith.

On Hanuman Jayanti, we Hindus do a lot to show our love and respect for him. We visit Hanuman temples, offer prayers, and do darshan. You'll see people offering beautiful flowers, especially the red and yellow ones that are dear to him. We also offer prasad like laddoo and other sweets, and many apply sindoor, just like Hanumanji did for Lord Rama's long life.

Remember how we recite the Hanuman Chalisa? It's so powerful! On this day, you'll hear it being chanted everywhere – in temples and homes. We also sing other bhajans and do aarti to invoke his blessings.

We offer Him our adoration and devotion in the Hindu Mandir on this day, and sing Hanuman Chalisa. We offer a pooja in honour of Hanuman Ji. The Hanuman Pooja gives strength, courage, wisdom, and knowledge. It gives strengths against the illnesses as well, and helps to recover. It gives mental peace, clears the mind and gives good thoughts. Hanuman got the promise of Shani Dev (Saturn) as well, that his devotees will be free of the harmful astrological effects of the planet Saturn. Saturday is the day of Sani Dev.

Many of us also observe a fast on Hanuman Jayanti. It's a way to purify ourselves and show our dedication. Some people avoid grains and stick to fruits and light meals.

It's also a time to remember Hanumanji's immense strength and courage. He faced so many challenges in the Ramayana and always emerged victorious because of his devotion to Lord Rama. We pray to him to give us the same strength and courage to face our own difficulties in life. He's our protector from all negativity and evil.

In different parts of India, the way we celebrate might have slight variations. For example, down South, some might observe it on a different date based on their calendar. But the core feeling of devotion and celebrating Hanumanji's birth remains the same everywhere.

Ultimately, Hanuman Jayanti is a beautiful reminder for all of us to cultivate devotion, strength, humility, and the spirit of selfless service in our lives, just like our beloved Hanumanji.

Jai Bajrangbali!
